MANIFESTO: ARTISANS OF ORGANIC WINE, FRIULI ISONZO
Read our Manifesto in ten points, which tells who we are and how we produce wine in Medea, Friuli Isonzo.
1
Our Value: Transparency
Transparency is our only principle. No blending, no compromises: our products are 100% who we are. For over 70 years, our history has been reflected in our commitment to growing raw materials to produce artisanal wine.
2
The Courage of Conscious Choices
Every day we set ourselves many goals: to strengthen our history, defend biodiversity, safeguard the integrity of the terroir, define our design, and respect the consumer. Many other commitments will grow along our path of development.
3
Our Being Ourselves Together with Others
We and our terroir: we represent it beyond any market logic. This is why we are part of the Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti – FIVI and the network The Old Vine Conference, which supports the valorisation of old vines and sustainable viticulture practices. We believe in the values of the winemaker who, in his territory, must produce, preserve the terroir, protect the landscape, and joyfully tell it to the consumer.
4
Small but Organised
We know how to recognise our weaknesses and work to improve them, weaving collaborations with professionals who, besides being trusted advisors, have also been chosen for their values.
5
“Brinda Bevi Sorridi (toast, drink and smile)”
Generators of conviviality, the real, genuine, sincere one, free from overstructures or formalities. Wines to be tasted in an authentic, spontaneous way; people, their souls and their dreams are the true protagonists. Our ideal consumer is someone who loves good things and seeks quality, is passionate about culture, interested in design and small details, and is a wine lover curious about an authentic life and experiences in the vineyard.
6
Ode to the Terroir
The DOC Friuli Isonzo area is a gently sloping plateau extending from the Collio hills and the Carso plateau down to the Adriatic Sea. The temperature is ideal thanks to the sea and the surrounding mountains, which enclose the plain and slow down the penetration of cold northern winds, creating a perfect balance in the aromas of the wines. The Isonzo river dynamically shapes the morphology of this land, rich in stones and minerals such as iron and aluminium. The wines are mineral, elegant, vertical and particularly long‑lived.
7
The Value of Sustainability
In the vineyard, 365 days a year. We work to increase the soil’s biological vitality, its structure and its mineral content, because all of these elements contribute to establishing a natural balance in the vineyard that helps us produce high‑quality grapes whose characteristics respect the terroir.
8
Beauty, the Care of the Spirit
We make beautiful the things that are good. We need to surround ourselves with beauty to comfort the spirit. Drawn to the imperfect beauty that nature gives us, with inimitable colours and discreet elegance, we pay homage to it on our label through a symbolic glimpse of rural life.
In the first hours of a silent day the countryside is wrapped in an intimate, protective mist. The soft steps of pheasants and partridges move through the sleepy flora. From afar I hear the muffled sound of church bells in the village, marking the work of the drowsy winemaker.
9
Bees, our special workes
We have enthusiastically embraced the collaboration with bees, environmental sentinels responsible for 80% of the pollination process in nature. With the support of a specialist, we will confidently develop this practice over the years.
10
Green soul
We are firmly convinced of the need to contribute to respecting the Earth. We do so every day by adopting sustainable practices in the vineyard, in the countryside and in the winery; by generating electricity through a photovoltaic system; by providing a charging point for electric bikes; and by using bottles (450 g) with a sustainable weight.
